Welcome our Southern "F" Locomotive Trust has been in the making over the Last 4 years and on the 10th Feb 2008 was set up and Registered as a Charitable Trust on 30 March 2009 . Well our aim is to get an 1880's "F" Class Steam Locomotive to Restore with several Vintage carriages to set up to Run between Invercargill and Bluff and to any Event around Southland where we can get to with a Railway Line. There are a few area's Gore, Edendale, Otautau, Ohai / Nightcaps, Bluff. All we need is a Locomotive there are several bared plus a few in Heritage groups waiting on Restoration.
But in the mean Time The Kingston Flyer Railway has come up for sale, once again and as our Trust's Deed state we are there to save any Railway Heritage in and around Southland and The Kingston Flyer falls well within this criteria . We felt Strongly enough to do our utmost to Save it this Time into a Heritage Trust as it's never survived under private ownership for anymore than 8-10 years. This Time the Present operators were trying to sell it off to a Yankee Railroad Company tied up with City Bank USA. But it's now in the Hands of the receivers and the Mortgagee Company Prudential CHCH, who aren't that keen on selling it off to the USA Buyer. So Our Trust is Looking for support from 25000 Kiwi Mum & Dads if they can Donate $100 More or Less Not their Life Savings!
We hope to get The Railway up and Running again as soon as we have enough for a Deposit, we are wanting to Run it Over The Winter in the Snow at Night a Steam Train How Romantic that would be!! ASAP
